Chimera is a hybrid of a gorilla, lion, and sperm whale that was created by Doctor Eugene Tooms, a member of the US government, to battle the Ancient Gods and their monsters when they attacked Earth. He has the skin, tail, and head of a sperm whale, the torso of a gorilla, and the claws and hind legs of a lion.
